Behaviour Support Plan: Good Practice

Playground project

Beechgrove Junior School

Broseley Cof E School

St Lukes CP School

Stokesay CP school

A 3 three stage project designed to encourage positive playground behaviour.

The project targets such areas as

  • Initiating games with other pupils
  • Teaching games
  • Being calm in the playground
  • Seeking help at appropriate times
  • Dealing with conflict situations

The pupils are encouraged to self monitor their achievements through the three stages and gain positive reward in the form of tokens from school staff who recognise achievement of targets.

A weekly progress meeting is held with the BST teacher and schools provide a mentor for pupils involved.

A circle time approach  is used by the BST teacher to discuss issues that have arisen during the week.

The project has

1.      Encouraged greater co-operation amongst pupils and reduced the potential for conflict.

2.      Older pupils have encouraged younger pupils to participate in games

3.      Lunch-time supervisors have been provided with a mechanism to reward and reinforce positive behaviour
