CHALLENGE 2000

Goals of provision

  • To work with students who have become disaffected through a variety of reasons and causes, referral, recruitment and selection through the school pastoral care programmes
  • To formulate a proactive programme for year 10 students, working in partnership with students year tutor
  • Review and develop behaviour management techniques with group
  • Support and encourage group identity and participation which is sustained over the two year period of the project group for each individual
  • Agree personal challenges and key skill development, including a residential experience and community action project
  • Support each participant to achieve national accreditation through Bristol University scheme

Methods

Development of supportive group work on and off school site.

Agreeing contract of behaviour and attendance.

Targeting a client group of students who for differing reasons are predicted to fail exams in final year.

Challenge 2000 relates to the accumulation of 2000 points from a range of activities, over a 2-year period.
