Behaviour Support Plan: Good Practice

THE BURTON BOROUGH SCHOOL

To improve social inclusion

Yr11 have the opportunity to opt for “Active Citizenship” one afternoon a week.  The scheme is organised by Marion Ellis, Head of Yr11.  Some of the students assist in Primary Schools, some organise Community Events, some are making “Story Sacks” for local children.  This is raising self esteem, having a very positive impact on the students.

Scheme at Ilfacombe Community College which is very successful.  Those students in danger of failing/exclusion have a special timetable individually tailored. They attend those subjects where they are having success.  At other times their programme is arranged using local community/part time staff/youth leaders but always following an accredited activity e.g. lifesaving, DofE, CLAIT.
