Behaviour Support Plan: Public Care: Support Staff

Introduction | Terminology | Support Staff | Good Practice

Specialist Educational Psychologist for Children and Young People in Public Care

In addition to CYPPC having access to the full range of support services the authority has appointed a specialist educational psychologist (0.5) who can offer advice to :

  • Designated teachers on issues relating to CYPPC in general
  • Designated teachers, carers and social workers on specific cases
  • Social Care staff on education issues
  • School governors and other colleagues who have important roles to play in promoting inclusion and achievement for CYPPC

The educational psychologist is involved in promoting and maintaining joint working practices between agencies. Training is available to all new designated teachers.

For the Summer and Autumn terms 2001 the main priority of the role is to work with designated teachers, foster carers and social workers to establish Personal Education Plans for all of Telford and Wrekin's CYPPC.

The specialist educational psychologist can be contacted at West Rd Social Care Offices, Wellington on 01952 222971 and through the Authority's intra-net system.

Rights and Representations Officers

The Authority has appointed two Rights and Representations Officers to assist our CYPPC in making their needs known. The CYPPC have access to independent workers to discuss issues relating to their care or education. This is a new development which aims to overcome the problem of some CYPPC being isolated from independent advice and support. All CYPPC are informed about the service.

Professionals can reach the officers on 01952 586625.
